ÖPVC-JZ/OZ-CYö 1 000 V UL/CSA: one screened EMC control cable for IEC and North American machines
An engineering guide to a dual-rated screened PVC control cable with a tinned copper braid of 85 % ± 5 % coverage: UL 1 000 V and IEC 450/750 V, cURus 80 °C, increased mineral-oil resistance, a 6 kV test voltage and bunched-cable fire performance to IEC 60332-3-24 Cat. C and CSA FT1.
1. Reading the designation
JZ = with GNYE and numbered cores (‘G’); OZ = without GNYE (‘x’). C denotes the tinned copper braid; Yö the oil-resistant PVC sheath (‘ö’ for Öl, oil). 1 000 V UL/CSA refers to the UL Style 2570 / CSA AWM rating; the same cable is rated 450/750 V under IEC.
Standard constructions, 2 × 0.5 to 5 G 16 mm².
Test voltage.
cURus at 80 °C.
Braid coverage ± 5 %.
2. Construction
The tinned braid is applied directly over the core assembly, giving a compact screened cable. The sheath compound is formulated for increased mineral-oil resistance and bunched-cable flame performance, and the insulation system is dimensioned for the UL 1 000 V rating and a 6 kV test.

6. Application envelope
Power, control and connecting cable in electrical facilities where increased mineral-oil resistance is required. For fixed laying and flexible applications with free movement, without tensile stress and without forced guidance. Suitable for dry, humid and wet rooms. Outdoor use only with UV protection; not for burial. Where mechanical damage risk exists, install in tubes, channels or similar. Recommended for EMC applications.

8. Design calculations
9. Certification and traceability
This cable carries cURus recognition (80 °C, 1 000 V) under UL Style 2570 and CSA AWM I A/B II A/B, meets IEC 60332-3-24 Cat. C, CEI 20-22 II, NBN C30-004 F2 and CSA FT1, and is RoHS-conform, CE-conform to 2014/35/EU and LABS-/silicone-free during production. FeiChun Cable backs this with a complete export certification portfolio — including CE, UKCA, VDE, EAC, ATEX and IECEx — and every certificate supplied is checked against the exact type, voltage, factory and standard of the order.
Routine tests
Conductor resistance, 6 kV voltage test, braid continuity, insulation resistance, core numbering, dimensions and marking.
Type tests
Bunched flame (IEC 60332-3-24 Cat. C), CSA FT1, mineral-oil immersion, sheath ageing.
Delivery documents
Approved datasheet, test report per drum, UL/CSA marking, batch number and length marking.
10. FAQ
Why two voltage ratings?
UL/CSA AWM Style 2570 rates the cable at 1 000 V; under IEC it is rated 450/750 V. One cable can therefore be used in a machine shipped to either market.
What does cURus mean?
UL Recognized Component marking valid for both the US and Canada, here for 80 °C and 1 000 V as appliance wiring material (AWM).
Is AWM the same as a field-wiring tray cable?
No. AWM is for wiring within equipment and machines. Field wiring in buildings under the NEC normally requires listed types such as TC-ER. Check the installation code.
What is IEC 60332-3-24 Cat. C?
A bunched-cable vertical flame test: a defined non-metallic volume of cables must not propagate flame beyond a set height. It is stricter than the single-cable IEC 60332-1 test.
Why −5 °C when moved?
The oil-resistant sheath compound is optimised for oil resistance and fire behaviour; below −5 °C, avoid flexing. Fixed installation remains possible down to −40 °C.
How many cores?
From 2 to 61 cores in 0.75–1.5 mm², up to 34 cores in 0.5 and 2.5 mm², and 2–5 cores from 4 to 16 mm².
