H05VV5-F HAR: harmonised oil-resistant PVC control cable with numbered cores
An engineering guide to the European harmonised control cable for machine building: fine-wire copper, black numbered cores, and a special oil-resistant grey PVC sheath suitable for wet rooms and water-oil mixtures.
1. Reading the designation
Harmonised code per CENELEC HD 361: H harmonised, 05 300/500 V, V PVC insulation, V5 oil-resistant PVC sheath, F fine-wire flexible conductor. ‘G’ in the tables means with GNYE (from 3 cores); ‘x’ without.
Standard constructions, 3 G 0.5 to 25 G 2.5 mm².
European harmonised approval.
Moved bending radius.
Suitable for water-oil mixtures.
2. Construction
The construction is fixed by EN 50525-2-51, which is what makes the HAR mark possible: every harmonised manufacturer builds to the same insulation and sheath limits and diameter ranges.

8. Certification and traceability
This cable carries the HAR approval to EN 50525-2-51 / VDE 0285-525-2-51, is RoHS-conform, CE-conform to the 2014/35/EU Low Voltage Directive and LABS-/silicone-free during production. FeiChun Cable holds a complete export certification portfolio — including CE, UKCA, VDE, EAC, ATEX and IECEx — and every certificate supplied is checked against the exact type, voltage, factory and standard of the order.
Routine tests
Conductor resistance, 3 kV voltage test, insulation resistance, core numbering, dimensions within harmonised limits, marking.
Type tests
IEC 60332-1 flame, oil immersion of the sheath (EN 50363-4-1), ageing, cold behaviour.
Delivery documents
Approved datasheet, test report per drum, HAR marking, batch number and length marking.
9. FAQ
What does H05VV5-F mean?
H = harmonised; 05 = 300/500 V; V = PVC insulation; V5 = oil-resistant PVC sheath; F = fine-wire flexible conductor (class 5).
What is the HAR mark?
The European harmonisation mark under the HAR agreement: the cable is certified to the harmonised standard EN 50525-2-51 and recognised by participating European certification bodies.
Why are diameters given as a range?
EN 50525-2-51 specifies lower and upper limits for the mean outer diameter. Size EMC or sealing glands so the full range is covered; bending radii here are calculated from the upper value.
Is it suitable for coolant emulsions?
Yes. It is suitable for wet rooms including water-oil mixtures, thanks to the special oil-resistant PVC sheath.
Can it be used outdoors?
Only with UV protection; never buried.
How many cores?
Up to 34 cores from 0.5 to 1.5 mm², and up to 25 cores in 2.5 mm².
