NEK TS 606 is the Norwegian offshore industry technical specification (TS) covering a range of power, instrumentation and earth cables that are halogen free and/or MUD resistant, protecting them against the type of hydrocarbon-laden drilling liquid used in drilling operations which can have an adverse effect on cable sheathing materials. Originally published in 1993 by the Norwegian Electrotechnical Committee (NEK) as a successor to the 'Recommended Practice for Specification of Cables' of the Norwegian Oil Industry Association, NEK 606 has evolved to become an internationally accepted standard for offshore cable applications.

Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), formerly Oil and Gas UK (OGUK), is a trade association for the United Kingdom offshore energy industry. The OGUK cable specification first saw life in 2007 following the rebranding of the UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA), an organisation created by the UK government in 1996 to standardise the products and services supplied to the offshore industry. As part of its mandate, OGUK speaks for and represents the entire offshore sector operating on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

A shielded triad is a specialized instrumentation cable configuration containing exactly three conductors twisted together within a single shield. Unlike shielded pairs (which contain only two conductors), triads provide the essential third conductor needed for three-wire measurement systems. Each triad in the GEXOL®-331HF cable consists of three color-coded conductors (Black-White-Red), a bare tinned copper drain wire, and polyester-backed aluminum foil tape providing 100% electromagnetic shielding. Think of it as a "three-wire team" working together inside a protective shield to carry precision signals while rejecting electrical noise.

331HF Shielded Pairs Instrumentation Cable is specifically engineered for precision signal transmission in demanding offshore and marine environments worldwide. Each twisted pair consists of Black-White color coded conductors with a bare tinned drain wire, individually shielded with polyester-backed aluminum foil tape providing 100% coverage for superior electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection. The cable features pair-to-pair isolation plus an overall shield, making it ideal for sensitive instrumentation circuits that require noise immunity. Available in configurations from 1 to 24 pairs in both 16 AWG and 14 AWG, this cable maintains circuit integrity during fire conditions while delivering exceptional signal quality. Blue jacket or stripe options are available to signify intrinsically safe (IS) circuits.
