German standard DIN VDE 0274 was originally developed to set the specifications covering cables used in overhead lines. This standard covered XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) insulated conductors with a rated voltage of 0.6/1kV for use in overhead transmission lines. The standard was published by VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik) and established the requirements for crosslinked polyethylene insulated conductors for overhead transmission lines at nominal voltage 0.6/1kV.
