Emergency Lighting Cable Selection Guide - Reeling & Trailing Cables For Cranes & Mining — Feichun Special Cable Blogs

BS5266 Cable refers to fire-resistant cables specifically designed and manufactured to comply with British Standard BS5266-1, the code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises. These specialized cables ensure that emergency lighting systems remain operational during fire events, providing critical illumination for safe evacuation and emergency response operations. The standard addresses the installation requirements for cables used in centrally supplied emergency lighting systems, including central battery systems, static inverters, and generator-powered installations. According to BS5266-1:2016, cables must achieve minimum fire resistance durations when tested to BS EN 50200, with "standard" cables requiring 60 minutes (PH60) survival and "enhanced" cables requiring 120 minutes (PH120) for complex buildings.
